Tony Parker inducted by the Jurade of Saint-Emilion

In his basketball career, he did not like to “harvest”… He will have plenty of time to do so this weekend, in Saint-Emilion (Gironde). A great wine lover, Tony Parker, already spotted a few years ago tasting a Yquem 1937 in the cellars of the prestigious château, will be the attraction on Saturday and Sunday, in the heart of another famous region, Saint-Emilion.

On Saturday, the Jurade of Saint-Emilion will indeed receive Tipi and its four NBA rings, on the occasion of the “Night of Heritage”. “From 10.30 p.m., the former Spurs basketball player will parade with the torches with the Jurats to the Tour du Roy”, announced the Jurade in a press release on Thursday.

Blessing of the grapes of the new vintage

On Sunday, the Jurade will celebrate the harvest ban and the 138th anniversary of the founding of the Saint-Emilion Wine Council. The day will begin with the traditional Mass of the Jurade, celebrated by Abbé Rallion who will bless the grapes of the new vintage. The procession of Jurats will then head towards the Douve du Palais Cardinal for the induction ceremony. Some 35 personalities will be inducted, including Tony Parker.

Around 5 p.m., the Jurats will leave in parade, followed by the guests and the public, to proclaim the Ban des Vendanges from the Tour du Roy, letting bunches of grapes fly into the sky, in honor of the new harvest.
