James Corden voluntarily leaves the “Late Late Show”. In the latest issue, Tom Cruise jokes about the moderator’s termination.

Tom Cruise (59) feels sorry for James Corden (43). The moderator recently announced that he wanted to leave the “Late Late Show” in a year. A week after the big announcement, Cruise guest-starred on the show to promote his new film, Top Gun: Maverick. In a short clip, the actor joked that Corden was fired from The Late Late Show. “I’ll be there for you tonight no matter what you need. I wouldn’t have fired you”, quotes “Mail Online” the joking 59-year-old.

“It would be great if you could lend me some money,” Corden countered. Cruise continued to be empathetic: “I said no matter what, James, don’t worry.” After the short gag, the presenter welcomed the Hollywood star to his couch to talk about “Top Gun: Maverick”, which opens in German cinemas on May 26th.

He had signed a one-year contract, but then he wanted to move on. “When I started this journey, it was always meant to be just that: a journey, an adventure.
