Meta is launching a major AI offensive. Part of this includes a number of superstars who appear as AI profiles on Instagram and Facebook.

What do Snoop Dogg (51), Kendall Jenner (27) and Tom Brady (46) together? Not much at first glance, but all three are part of the current AI offensive by Facebook and Instagram. As Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg (39) announced on Wednesday, his group will also increasingly rely on artificial intelligence, which is currently booming everywhere, in the future. Part of this initiative includes AI profiles that Meta says have “more personality, opinions and interests.” Users should interact with these AI profiles in order to deepen their interests and hobbies.

The highlight: Some of these imaginary people officially use the images of well-known superstars from the fields of TV, sports, music or lifestyle. There is, among other things, rappers there Snoop Dogg as Dungeon Master to find something with which you can experience adventures as a storyteller, according to meta information. The likeness of the football superstar Tom Brady goes by the name Bru again. Bru is a “smart-ass sports debater who doesn’t mince his words” with whom you can discuss. Kendall Jenner, on the other hand, goes by the name Billie with the party. For the user, she represents a person who is supposed to support you like an “older sister”.

Other prominent personalities who gave their name and picture to the campaign include: influencer Charli D’Amelio (19), basketball stars Chris Paul (38) and Dwyane Wade (41), MMA fighter Israel Adesanya (34) , the Youtubers LaurDIY (30) and MrBeast (25), tennis player Naomi Osaka (25), ex-It-Girl Paris Hilton (42), reality TV star Raven Ross (30), celebrity chef Roy Choi (53) and the soccer player Sam Kerr (30).

An overview of all celebrity AI profiles can be found on the official meta page. More such profiles of well-known personalities have already been announced and will follow in the next few weeks.

Meta also announced that it will launch the beta phase of these interactive AI profiles in the United States today. But it doesn’t seem to be working properly yet. At least the company admits in advance: the AI people are still at the very beginning of development and, on top of that, the knowledge base of some of these “people” is still limited. That’s why, for example, answers could still be out of date. However, more work will be done on this in the coming months “so that the discussions become current and relevant”.
