This success is almost unbelievable. After a major mistake in the first run, toboggan world champion Langenhan races from far behind to the front.

Toboggan world champion Max Langenhan from BRC 05 Friedrichroda has achieved something almost impossible. After a major driving mistake in the first run and almost a second behind, the Thuringian raced to first place at the World Cup in Altenberg. He relegated Pyeongchang Olympic champion David Gleirscher from Austria, who was leading after the first run, to second place with 0.121 seconds.

The Latvian Kristers Aparjods came third. The three-time Olympic champion Felix Loch from RC Berchtesgaden missed his 51st World Cup victory in fourth place after he was still in a promising second place at halftime.

“I was just lucky. Mistakes like that actually deserve a defeat. The fact that I hit a run like that and then the track drops like that is something you wouldn’t wish on any other athlete. I’m sorry for that too. It’s an outdoor sport, and that’s how it was “Langenhan said.

My colleague Loch has already achieved a similar feat: In December 2020, the Berchtesgadener drove to victory from 17th place on the Altenberg track. Timon Grancagnolo from Chemnitz came 13th, Mathis Ertel from Altenberg came 17th.
