He has had a sense of political commitment since the age of 12. And in ten years, Maxime Renault, elected from the city of Argenteuil (Val-d’Oise) remains convinced that even if “we certainly commit ourselves for others, we first commit ourselves for what we wants, for his ideas, for a cause that we wish to concretize”. A message that he wishes to convey to all young people who are not interested in politics
For this presidential election, he gives voice to Valérie Pécresse, whom he has supported since high school, on the occasion of his first candidacy for the Ile-de-France regional council in 2015. “She won. I was 16 years old and I was proud to be a bit of the architect of his victory at my small level, ”recalls the young man who works in a public community. He decided to get involved at the national level, seduced by his program for young people, “which ranges from education with adaptation classes in 6th grade to the youth bank”.
On all fronts
Six years later, he returned for the candidate – for the presidential election this time –, went on leave from his job and joined the ranks of the 16,000 young LRs. With his team, he travels the roads in minibuses, trains to mobilize young supporters in a “holiday camp” atmosphere. Maxime Renault has inherited the title of atmosphere manager at meetings, heats the rooms with his bass drum and does not shy away from less prestigious tasks such as phoning, towing, sticking, boxing and “other words in -age”. With his comrades, he is also present on the social networks Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch and Twitter.
What does he expect from his candidate whom he imagines very well in the second round on April 10? “That it set up its program dedicated to young people”. He cites his flagship measures: “the driving license at 16, in particular by passing the Highway Code from 16 years old”. “It will remove a cost from the parents and by learning it during the school curriculum, we assimilate better. It will reduce the number of road accidents because we will be trained from an early age, ”supports the 22-year-old elected official.
Maxime Renault would very much like the youth bank wanted by Valérie Pécresse, “a means of financing young people’s projects (high school, setting up a business, etc.)”. These zero-interest loans will only have to be repaid when they have the means to do so. “For my commitment to materialize, I would like to bring this program from Valérie Pécresse to the Elysée”, he declares optimistically.
