Properly furnishing a 3 m² bathroom: where to start?
Whether it is a 3 m² bathroom or a larger room, there is no universal solution. Because it is above all a question of taking into account the configuration of the room: location of the door, location of the window, level of luminosity… In certain cases, some adjustments prove to be essential.
The sliding door can replace the traditional swing door and save space.
The simplest trick for arranging a small space is, of course, to knock down the partitions when technically possible! We therefore dare to have the bathroom open to the bedroom – which also has the advantage of boosting the brightness.
Even in the parental suite, an intimate place by nature, it can be more comfortable to separate the bathroom from the bedroom. We then focus on a modular space, for example by combining half partitions and Japanese panels, or by opting for the glass roof.
Bathroom of 3 m²: how to place the toilets?
Shower or bathtub, basin and toilet bowl: the location of each element must be chosen with the greatest care when fitting out the bathroom. This is especially true in a very small space. In theory, the solution is to place the toilet facing the door, the basin in alignment, and the shower or bathtub perpendicular to the door. In practice, we adapt according to the configuration of the room.
The corner shower is generally the best choice, because it allows both to clear a maximum of space, and to have a comfortable space for washing. But this is not always the case. In a long bathroom, a classic model finds its place at the end of the room. If you opt for the cabin, the transparent glass remains the safest solution to isolate the shower without visually weighing down the decor.
When the shower is placed directly next to the basin, it may be interesting to opt for the half-partition with a wall, in order to limit splashing.
It is important to be able to move freely. No question of taking the risk of hitting the cabin at the slightest movement: it is better to replace it with a simple curtain!
What furniture in a 3 m² bathroom?
Furniture plays a major role in a small bathroom. You should have everything you need close at hand. The priority is to optimize the space in order to create a functional and tidy room.
The column and the vanity unit are classics that have amply demonstrated their usefulness. We therefore adopt them without hesitation in the bathroom of 3 m². However, we are moving away from standard dimensions, and moving towards bathroom furniture with compact dimensions.
The shelves have the particularity of adapting perfectly to the available wall space. We therefore do not hesitate to use it without moderation to exploit the wall surface above the toilet or the basin.
Decorative tips to sublimate a 3 m² bathroom
In a bathroom of 3 m², we take care of the decoration! Objective: to create a cocooning atmosphere and visually enlarge the room.
The safest option for pushing back the walls is to opt for a light color. We therefore favor bright neutrals – white, but also ecru or pearl gray, or pastel shades. And to bring a little relief to the decor, we put on patterns on the ground. The good idea is to fall for cement tiles, which remains one of the major tile trends of the year!
To sublimate a 3 m² bathroom, you can use very glossy wall tiles, which will catch the light. Bet again on light and luminous shades: palette of beige, pale pink or mint green. This is an opportunity to try your hand at zellige in the bathroom.
In a room of 3 m², we avoid at all costs to multiply the decorative accessories, under penalty of cluttering the space. The trick to giving character to the bathroom is to bet on the essentials. Faucet, shower column and even piping: nothing is left to chance!
Polished concrete washbasin for a contemporary note, black washbasin for a touch of sophistication or washbasin enhanced with gold for a glam’ spirit: pay particular attention to this element which will bring the final touch to your bathroom! In the 3 m² bathroom, you can also replace the standard washbasin with a washbasin. Choose a round model – or one with rounded corners, more harmonious in a small bathroom.
