Each year, Time Out magazine surveys thousands of city dwellers around the world about life in their hometown. “We want to learn about the restaurant scene and the bar scene, the theaters and art galleries, the nightlife and the dating apps.” These snapshots feed into the latest ranking of the best cities in the world, which are also of great interest to visitors.
Of particular importance this year was how the metropolises got through the pandemic. Which neighborhoods are particularly cool? “This year, our top cities are those with vibrant nightlife, fantastic food and drink, and art, culture and museums galore,” reads the statement accompanying the latest survey. “We’ve highlighted places that aren’t boring, overly expensive, or overrated.”
Criteria such as walking distance and the network of local public transport also played a role in the evaluation.
According to “Time Out”, a total of 20,000 people were asked for their opinion. The result is a list of the “53 best cities in the world in 2022”. In the photo gallery we present the top ten.
