They scream, they curse, they cry – “Kitchen Impossible” is a drama in many acts. And no one masters the game as well as “Mister Kitchen Impossible” Tim Mälzer. In season nine, the Hamburg chef wants to show again that he is much more than just a fryer. The group of challengers is, as usual, high-caliber, but exceptionally male. The spectators can expect a pure sausage parade.
The fans were a bit bitchy after this year’s challengers were announced. On the one hand, because they questioned the fact that there are “no more women in gastronomy”, and on the other hand, because several hoped-for ideal candidates will not be part of the exclusive men’s group. For example, crowd favorite Tim Raue is missing. The Berlin star chef has competed against maltsters so often in recent seasons that many considered him a regular competitor. The matches between the two Tims were the highlights of the season for many viewers.
“Kitchen Impossible” this time only for men
Fans also hope year after year for a duel with Mälzer’s good friend Jamie Oliver. The British star chef’s appearance on “Kitchen Impossible” has been promised several times, but it has never come. Some people on Instagram commented with disappointment that he won’t be there in season nine either. “Again without Jamie Oliver. It was announced a few years ago” and “Without Jamie? Raue? Don’t know” could be read on Mälzer’s profile.
It’s a complaint on a very high level. Because the crew that has been put together this time promises great things. Including many familiar faces, but also absolute newcomers to the cooking show. Edi Frauneder is demanding revenge after his defeat last season in the USA and is traveling to Mälzer’s home port of Hamburg. The culinary alchemist Stefan Wiesner dares to step into the spotlight from the second row and this time he no longer wants to light the fire under Mälzer as the original chef, but as a competitor. And three-star chef Juan Amador is celebrating his return to “Kitchen Impossible” after many years. Also there: Richard Rauch, Hans Jörg Bachmeier, Anton Schmaus, Matthias Diether, Alexander Herrmann, Tobias Bätz and Lukas Mraz (short introductions in the photo series).
As always, the chefs are pushed to their limits and experience extreme emotional situations. But according to Mälzer, they are allowed to travel to exciting new countries, “including ones that might not even have been on their radar.” This time the much-feared black box is waiting for the chefs in Wales, Portugal, Kenya, South Africa and Japan, among others. According to the announcement, season nine will be “simply unpredictable”.
