Till Lindemann will not release his solo album, which will be released in November, with his previous record company Universal Music. The company explained this in response to a media request. A back door was still left open.

Rammstein singer Till Lindemann will probably have to look for a new record company for the time being to release his solo album, which will be released in November. As reported by “Spiegel”, among others, with reference to the Danish music magazine “Gaffa”, industry leader Universal Music will not be responsible for sales. There has been no official statement from the artist so far. Danish journalists noticed that the note “under exclusive license to Universal Music GmbH” was missing from the small print on Lindemann’s first single “Zunge”. His previous works had been published by Universal to date.

Universal puts collaboration with Till Lindemann on hold

In response to a media inquiry, a company spokeswoman told “Spiegel”: Till Lindemann and Universal Music “jointly decided in August 2023 to suspend collaboration on the solo album planned for autumn 2023.” The background to these decisions was the ongoing public prosecutor’s investigation against Lindemann at the time, which has since been discontinued.

In order to give the artist planning security for the tour associated with the album, the collaboration was put on hold: “So that the album can be released in time before the concert tour planned for November 2023, Till Lindemann and Universal Music have mutually decided that Till Lindemann can release this album without Universal Music.”

So the album will still be released, just not by Universal. Back in June of this year, Universal suspended the band’s promotional activities “after the allegations became known” against Lindemann and his band Rammstein.

Record company keeps the back door open

However, this is not a final separation between Universal and Rammstein or their singer. The record company is keeping the door open for further collaborations, especially given that the investigation against Lindemann has now been closed. According to “Spiegel”, the message ends with the words “We will inform you about future publications in due course.”

Lindemann’s solo tour starts on November 8th in Leipzig, and his album is scheduled to be released five days earlier.
