Thunderstorms, hail and heavy rain possible on Wednesday

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), showers are expected in Baden-Württemberg during the day on Wednesday. Especially in the southern part of the country, for example in Upper Swabia and the southern Black Forest, the thunderstorms can be severe and accompanied by heavy rain of up to 40 liters per square meter, hail with a grain size of around centimeters and squalls.

According to SWR weather expert Bernd Madlener, temperatures are falling by eight to nine degrees, but it still feels damp due to the thunderstorm air. In the mountains, temperatures should no longer exceed 20 degrees.

Friendlier and more autumnal weather at the end of the week

On Thursday the showers move eastwards, on Friday and Saturday late summer returns with a high pressure area and friendly weather. The SWR weather expert was unable to predict exactly how warm it would get at this point. “But it could be up to 25 degrees in many places,” said Madlener. However, it will no longer be as humid and not as warm as we have seen in the past few days. Fog fields were increasing. “It’s already heading into autumn,” announces Madlener. A further change in the weather is only expected in the middle of next week, says a spokesman for the DWD.
