Three peregrine falcon chicks hatched at the airport – Bavaria

Three peregrine falcon chicks hatched at Nuremberg Airport tower. A few years ago, the peregrine falcons settled in the dome of the tower at a height of 48 meters. Now they have had offspring for the third year in a row, as the airport announced on Monday. An employee of the ornithological station has now ringed the white, fluffy chicks – two male and one female. To do this, the airport fire brigade had to extend their turntable ladder so that the expert could reach the nesting place below the tower pulpit.

In the meantime, the four young peregrine falcons have changed their plumage from grey-white to brown at the Nuremberg Imperial Castle and are currently training their flight muscles – some even on the take-off grid, as the project website of the Middle Franconia district government says. Since 2013, peregrine falcons have nested on the 40 meter high Sinwell Tower of the Kaiserburg. Like last year, four chicks hatched there this spring. Two webcams provide a 24-hour insight into the life of the peregrine falcon family.
