Huawei has no longer brought its latest smartphone to Germany. But that doesn’t mean that the older models have been forgotten. The Chinese company has surprisingly released software updates for three older cell phones that are intended to improve them.
Huawei makes old cell phones a little better
Huawei really surprised us with the Mate 60 Pro. Suddenly there was a high-end smartphone again that no longer had any restrictions. Not only is the company’s own Kirin processor installed there, but also a Chinese 5G modem. This is probably why the smartphone is only available to buy in China.
But Huawei hasn’t forgotten its old cell phones. The Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro are currently receiving a software update of around 200 MB (Source: Huawei Blog).
As a reminder: The P30 Pro is already four years old and was the last high-end smartphone from Huawei that was delivered in Germany without any restrictions on hardware and software. Anyone who still uses their smartphone can now install a small software update that should improve communication in some situations. Huawei doesn’t go into detail in the changelog. Personal data will not be changed when the software update is installed.
The small software update is good news at first, but it is GIn general, the old Huawei smartphones have not been up to date for a long timewhen it comes to security updates. The cell phones are simply too old for that and you should consider switching to newer models that still receive security updates. However, newer models from Huawei are still only available without Google services.

Huawei continues to expand
With the Mate 60 Pro, Huawei has found its way back to its old strength and this will be further expanded with the upcoming smartphones. The Chinese company is planning new processors and additional smartphones that should again hold a candle to the competition in the middle class. But the cell phones probably won’t come to Europe.
