It is a film fairy tale that has cult status: The production “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” from 1973. The film was produced in the former CSSR and GDR. The faces of the film couple flicker on many screens every year at Christmas time. But what happened to the actors Libuše Šafránková and Pavel Trávníček? The Cinderella actress Šafránková died in 2021 at the age of 68 after suffering from cancer for several years. The actress can look back on a great career. She has appeared in around 150 films – including the Czech film “Kolja”. It received an Oscar for best foreign language film. Šafránková received the Czech Film Prize in 1996 and the White Lion, a medal of merit of the Czech Republic, in 2015. Pavel Trávníček also continues to work as an actor – even if he does not come close to the cinematic oeuvre of his colleague. He starred as a prince in many Czech fairy tale films. In 1997 he founded his own theater in Prague, where he worked for many years as a director and actor. In addition to his acting activities in TV and theater, he works as a presenter and voice actor. In 2021 there will be a remake of the fairy tale film for the first time. In it, the makers maintain the magic of the old film. The dialogues differ only slightly – and the romantic winter landscape is also preserved.
