Three fishermen rescued after their boat overturned

They come out unscathed, but with great fear. Wednesday noon, three sailors who were fishing for scallops off Saint-Cast-le-Guildo (Côtes d’Armor) saw their boat turn over. In rough seas and with a force 7 wind, the Surya turned “under the effect of a powerful wave taken sideways”, specifies the Maritime Prefecture of the Atlantic. Luckily, a surveillance plane flying over the area saw the scene and was able to alert the Lannion airport control tower shortly before noon.

The alert issued by the Corsen Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center (CROSS) led to the hijacking of a nearby fishing vessel. It is the crew of the Smurf who was able to help the three sailors who fell into the water. Two of them had been ejected. The third had to swim out of the boat. A speedboat from SNSM and another from customs were also sent there.

The boat ended up sinking

The Surya sank shortly after. An urgent notice to mariners has been published to materialize the position of the shipwreck to other users of the area. The boat now rests at a depth of 17 meters about 1.3 nautical miles from Saint-Cast.
