Three departments placed in flood orange vigilance

Be careful in Orne (61), Eure (27) and Oise (60). Météo-France has placed these three departments on orange vigilance with a risk of flooding, in a bulletin published Tuesday early evening.

Eighty departments as well as Andorra are also in yellow vigilance, because of the storms which traverse France. Calvados (14) as well as the North (59) are yellow vigilance for rain-flood and floods, and Aisne (02) in yellow vigilance for rain-flooding.

Particularly high water levels

In France, only Brittany as well as Loire-Atlantique, Manche, Seine-Maritime, Somme and Pas-de-Calais are not affected by this yellow vigilance, as well as Bouches-du-Rhône, the Alpes-Maritimes and Corsica, in the south of the country.

The precipitation of the last few days has caused reactions in some rivers. The water levels are particularly high on the Thérain (Oise) and on the Charentonne and the Guiel, which run through the Eure and Orne. After the new precipitation on Tuesday, new reactions from the rivers are underway in Normandy, while new reactions are also possible on Helpe Minor, in the North.

Expected overflows

On the Thérain, the rise in water levels will continue in Beauvais and damaging overflows are expected. The precipitation still expected overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday could maintain the current flood, or even cause a new rise in levels.

On the Charentonne – Guiel section, levels have been rising sharply since Tuesday afternoon, and damaging overflows are expected from the early evening.

On the upstream parts, the maximum levels will be reached in the evening.

Meteo France warns of possible significant flooding and warns that traffic conditions can be made difficult on the entire network and disruptions can affect rail transport. In addition, power cuts can occur and the dikes can be weakened or submerged.
