Three dead and one injured in road accident between trucks

Three people died and a third was injured on Monday in a road accident in Blanzy, in Saône-et-Loirewe learned from the firefighters.

The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. between two heavy goods vehicles and a car on a fast lane near Blanzy, in a work zone. According to a first assessment of the firefighters, the two drivers of the heavy goods vehicles perished in a violent fire which followed the collision.

A third body, charred, was then found in one of the trucks, said the sub-prefect of Autun Marc Makhlouf who went there. The driver of the light vehicle, aged 32, was only slightly injured.

Fifty firefighters mobilized

According to the first findings, one of the heavy goods vehicles would have swerved after a collision with the car, hitting the second heavy goods vehicle head-on, which caused the fire.

The accident completely blocked traffic and required the intervention of around fifty firefighters. Traffic should remain cut off overnight, according to forecasts from Bison Futé.
