This very strong autumn storm will first sweep the coasts of the north-western quarter of France during the night from Wednesday to Thursday before moving inland during the morning of Thursday. Brittany will be the first region affected by bad weather and three departments in the region (Finistère, Morbihan and Côtes-d’Armor) have been placed on orange alert for strong winds from 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Météo-France has also placed a large part of the Atlantic coastline on yellow alert for wind, Brittany, Loire-Atlantique and the English Channel for rain and flooding and Finistère, Morbihan and Loire-Atlantique for waves and submersion.
Gusts of up to 150 to 170 km/h
If the episode promises to be violent, Météo-France indicates this Tuesday morning that “there remains uncertainty about the intensity of the wind gusts. » From Wednesday, gusts of 100 to 120 km/h are expected in the evening and early night. This will then increase during the night with certain “extremely violent” gusts which could reach up to 150 to 170 km/h on the coast of Finistère and Côtes-d’Armor. “Then, in the second part of the night from Wednesday to Thursday and Thursday morning, these gusts will spread to other departments in the northwest of the country which will therefore go into orange vigilance,” specifies Météo-France.
In Finistère, which will be the first department affected by the storm, the prefect is already calling on residents to be extremely vigilant. “The population is particularly advised to anticipate or delay their travel to avoid the storm period,” specify the authorities.
