threatened with death again, the mayor of Romans-sur-Isère will file a complaint

For her comments denouncing the “generations of delinquents” of which Thomas’ attackers are said to be part, Marie-Hélène Thoraval had previously been threatened with “decapitation”.

A truth that always bothers…“. The LR mayor of Romans-sur-Isère, Marie-Hélène Thoraval, will file a complaint after receiving new death threats, due to her positions following the death of Thomas, killed during a ball in Crépol in the night of November 18 to 19. “I am once again the target of a death threat on my Instagram account. A complaint will be filed. Nothing and no one will make me give up“, she wrote on the social network X, accompanying her publication with the hashtag Justice for Thomas.

Following the murder of Thomas, a 16-year-old teenager, the city councilor denounced the “generations of offenders» to which the suspects allegedly belong, while pointing the finger at the Monnaie district, where they come from. She thus estimated “have (had) the courage to clarify what the reality is, namely a neighborhood plagued by drug trafficking and consumption, by delinquency and by the desire of some to make it a lawless zone.”

These comments, repeated to several media outlets, triggered the ire of several individuals, who insulted him or threatened to kill him. One of them, sentenced in December to eight months in prison for “insults by words or threats», had called the town hall of Romans-sur-Isère asking: “Does the mayor have a kalash at home? You heard her on the radio, she’s a fascist. Does she have Arab bodyguards?” Another, placed in pre-trial detention, had threatened him on Instagram with “decapitation”, explaining that he wanted “juggle with (one’s) skull“.
