In Reutlingen Up to 1,500 people demonstrated against the Corona measures on Saturday evening. The police announced this late on Saturday evening – previously there had been talk of around 2,000 participants at times. At the gathering, people with candles walked through the city calling for “resistance.” A police officer was injured and the alleged attacker arrested. According to police, demonstrators have blocked streets. Cars were sometimes unable to get through – the police described the mood as aggressive. The demonstrators had gathered in the evening at the Bürgerpark in order to move from there to the Tübinger Tor and on towards the market square. Requests to wear a mask were ignored, it said. As a result, the meeting was dissolved by the Public Order Bureau.

Then a group moved on in the direction of Karlstrasse and the central bus station. Participants in the elevator occasionally lit pyrotechnics and torches. When the police tried to stop the gathering at the bus station, according to the police, participants in the elevator violently broke the chain of the emergency services, so that they made use of pepper spray and batons. Several criminal cases were initiated during the evening for assaulting officials, insulting and attempted assault. In addition, around 100 dismissals were issued.

Originally a rally under the motto “For Freedom, Truth and Self-Determination” was registered in the Reutlingen Citizens’ Park. However, because the district office had imposed conditions and, among other things, made it mandatory to wear a mask, the organizer withdrew the registration. Later, the Telegram messenger service called for a demo in Reutlingen. The police suspect that hundreds have traveled from outside the country.
