The first teaser for “Thor: Love and Thunder” is out. Natalie Portman takes over Chris Hemsworth’s god hammer.

Chris Hemsworth (38) has on twitter shared the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. In the teaser for the fourth solo adventure of the Nordic god, we not only see a tired Thor – but also Natalie Portman (40), who picks up the god’s hammer Mjölnir.

“Everything that makes a classic Thor adventure,” Hemsworth writes about the trailer. “Big, loud and crazy and with a lot of heart. You will laugh, you will cry, then you will laugh so much that you will cry even more”.

Natalie Portman becomes Thor

To the tune of Guns n’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” Thor buries his hammer. Now he wants to find out who he really is. “My time as a superhero is over,” says Odin’s son. But doing so makes him unworthy of wielding the god hammer Mjolnir. In his place, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) seizes the powerful weapon.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” takes over a storyline from the comic template. In 2014, a woman carried the hammer for the first time. It is only revealed in later editions that the female Thor variant is his girlfriend Jane.

First look at Russell Crowe, Christian Bale is still missing

Russell Crowe (58) can also be seen as Zeus in the teaser for the first time. However, you only see the Oscar winner briefly from behind. Christian Bale (48), who embodies Thor’s opponent Gorr the God Butcher, remains hidden.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” is directed by Taika Waititi (46, “Jojo Rabbit”). The New Zealander already directed the predecessor, “Thor: Day of Decision” from 2017.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” will start in German cinemas on July 6, 2022.
