Bayern Munich’s national soccer player Joshua Kimmich confirmed in an interview on Saturday that he has not yet been vaccinated against Corona. Then teammate Thomas Müller commented on Kimmich’s non-vaccination. “I’m a vaccination friend,” said the 32-year-old.

Joshua Kimmich’s confirmed non-vaccination causes a stir. In an interview with the TV broadcaster Sky, he confessed himself to be a vaccine skeptic. Because of a “few concerns”, he has not yet been vaccinated against Corona, as he said on Saturday after the Bundesliga game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

His Bayern colleague Thomas Müller then expressed himself in an interview with the television station “Sport 1” about Joshua Kimmich’s non-vaccination. It is an “absolutely acceptable decision”. Thomas Müller went on to say that “everyone should decide for themselves”. At the same time, the 32-year-old admitted: “The vaccination would be better”.

But you also have to try to accept the decision against a corona vaccination. It is “a fine line,” said Thomas Müller. The Bayern kicker said of himself: “I am a vaccination friend and hope that the players who are not vaccinated will change their minds. If they don’t do that, it is absolutely understandable on a human level.”

Joshua Kimmich’s corona illness would be “bitter for everyone involved”

Of course, you always want to see that you get out of the corona phase. And: “As far as I know, vaccination is simply the best option,” continued Thomas Müller. Failure to vaccinate teammates in football would, however, “in no way divide them”. “But if the players are absent because they have not been vaccinated, it is of course bitter for everyone involved,” admitted Thomas Müller.

Joshua Kimmich had finally tried to emphasize that he was not a vaccination opponent or vaccination skeptic. He is “aware of his responsibility” and adheres to the hygiene measures. The Bayern professional does not categorically say that he “will not be vaccinated at all”. It is “also very possible that I will be vaccinated in the future,” said Kimmich.
