Thodex CEO Runs Away With $2.6 Billion Clients was taken to Turkey

Faruk Fatih Ozer, founder and ex-CEO of Thodex, has been extradited from Albania to Turkey, according to a statement. Cointelegraph Turkey report

Local police, charged with fraud and money laundering, immediately detained the 27-year-old man when he arrived at Istanbul airport on April 20, according to Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency.report

The plane carrying Ozer took off from the Albanian capital Tirana early in the morning and landed at Istanbul airport. Ozer was immediately detained by the Istanbul Airport Police Department and will undergo a medical examination and then be taken to the Istanbul Police Department.

Ozer’s arrival in Turkey comes after nearly two years in which the hodex exchange abruptly halted trading and withdrawals amid reports of a police raid at its office on April 22, 2021.

A year after Thodex collapsed, the founder was arrested in Albania in August 2022. Turkish police also arrested 62 people for Thodex scams and also arrested some brothers of the then-disappeared CEO.
