The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of thunderstorms with heavy rain and stormy gusts in Rhineland-Palatinate. Nothing was known about the damage until late in the evening. However, a violent storm passed over Rüsselsheim near the state border.
As the police confirmed to Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), trees fell in Rüsselsheim in the evening. Further details are not yet known. According to the fire department, they are still on duty.
A spokesman for Frankfurt Airport told HR that there were difficulties with departures due to heavy rain.
On Tuesday evening, new showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rain, were also expected in Rhineland-Palatinate. The weather only calmed down on Wednesday night.

A heat warning from the DWD was also in effect until 7 p.m. Up to a height of 400 meters, a strong heat load was to be expected on Tuesday. A spokeswoman referred to appropriate protective measures. Direct sun and strenuous activities should be avoided. It is also important to drink a lot and to keep your own home as cool as possible.
Overflowing cellars in the association of churches
In the parish of Kirchen im Westerwald, many cellars were full on Tuesday morning due to a storm with heavy rain. Numerous streets were flooded. When asked by SWR, the VG fire chief said the water had stood half a meter on the streets and numerous manhole covers had been pushed up. According to the information, the places Brachbach and Mudersbach were particularly affected. Apparently there were no injuries.
Many people in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate were probably waiting for rain and thus some cooling off from the heat. But in the parish of Kirchen it was very violent.

According to the weather forecast, the mix of showers and thunderstorms will continue on Wednesday. And it stays hot: Between 27 and 30 degrees have been announced. At higher altitudes it should be around 24 degrees warm.
