On January 14th, Crown Princess Mary will become Queen Mary. With her husband Frederik’s accession to the throne, her salary also increased dramatically.

Copenhagen – On January 14, 2024, a new chapter begins for the Danish Crown Prince couple Frederik and Mary. The 55-year-old becomes the new King of Denmark as Frederik X, and his wife becomes Queen. The 83-year-old is vacating the throne after 52 years and the royal family is being completely reorganized. For Frederik and Mary this means new duties and more money. According to the Spanish magazine Lecturas Crown Princess Mary, who was born Mary Elizabeth Donaldson, becomes one of the highest-paid royals in the world as queen.

The future salary is based on the monarch’s income. Margrethe received the equivalent of twelve million euros from the Danish budget last year. The money is earmarked and is intended for the portal Nobility world according to cover expenses for personal needs, maintenance, royal banquets and state visits as well as personnel costs.

Crown Princess Mary’s remuneration is expected to triple as queen

With the farewell to Queen Margrethe II, who will retain her title of Royal Highness, the millions are rumored to be transferred to Crown Prince Frederik’s account. He currently receives around three million euros annually. Mary, who is very popular with the Danish people, receives ten percent of this as an allowance; in 2023 that was around 25,000 euros per month. With her husband Frederik’s accession to the throne, this amount could triple, reports Lecturas.

25,000 would then become 75,000 euros, which would correspond to 900,000 euros per year. This means that Mary, who will be called Queen Mary in the future, would even leave Queen Máxima (52) of the Netherlands with her 411,000 euros a year well behind.
