The Haas Formula 1 racing team was the first team to present the design of its new VF-22 car – but only on computer images. The rule revolution, which will come into force in 2022, will change the design of the cars significantly. The new aerodynamic concept in particular is said to have positive effects on racing. One goal of the revolution is to allow more overtaking manoeuvres. And: Smaller teams like Haas should get closer to the big ones, the sometimes glaring difference in performance should be reduced. That was also the reason why Haas team boss Günther Steiner gave the bold goal at the media round for the presentation: “We want to fight for points.”
For Mick Schumacher’s team, which was the slowest last season, that would be huge progress. The statement is a clear work order for Schumacher and teammate Nikita Masepin. Both must prove that they can move the team forward.
