This castle exceptionally opens its doors… to sell all its decoration

Everything must disappear ! On the occasion of Heritage Days 2023, an exceptional event will take place at the Château de la Gidonnière, in Lhomme in Sarthe, Sunday and Monday. Usually closed to the public, the imposing property rebuilt under Louis XIII will this time open its doors in order to shed all of its furniture and decoration, as part of an auction.

“The owners reluctantly sold the castle,” explains Me Malo de Lussac, of the Daguerre Val-de-Loire auction house. They called on us to sell the entire interior, their eye in a way, since they furnished it for two decades with mainly objects from the 18th and 19th centuries. »

Clock, crockery and vintage cars

In total, some 600 lots will be available, such as this “very beautiful bronze pendulum” estimated between 4,000 and 6,000 euros, this “bronze and green horn cartel from the Louis XV period” but also “several very interesting Asian pieces”, according to the auctioneer. Monday will be reserved for the sale of all household items, gardening equipment, but also classic cars including this Tomaso Pantera from 1972, estimated at 90,000 euros.

Other lots at much more reasonable prices will be up for grabs, as will the opportunity to simply visit the castle but also to see, not far from there, one of the last Bollée wind turbines visible in France.
