They made believe that their little girl needed a transplant, a couple indicted for having launched an appeal for fraudulent donations

They are suspected of having launched several appeals for fraudulent donations, claiming that their sick little girl needed a transplant. A couple, residing in Cran-Gevrier, was indicted for fraud, we learn from the Annecy prosecutor’s office. “Pending investigations, it is requested to no longer make a donation to the association” Un p’tit air de Mya “”, tweeted Line Bonnet, public prosecutor.

Mya, a little blonde girl with curly hair, was born in October 2020. Her parents, who had organized evenings and charity events, made believe that she suffered from tracheal stenosis, a rare disease requiring a trachea transplant. They had created an association in June 2021 to solicit financial help from people.

Damage not yet assessed

“The costs related to the operation are mainly support, accommodation, transport and equipment. The care for Mya will be spread out over time, which requires permanent help, ”they explained.

The association’s Facebook page has since been deactivated. The amount of the sums embezzled has not been quantified but it could amount to “several thousand euros”, according to the prosecutor of Annecy, quoted by France Bleu.

Denounced by a relative, the parents admitted in police custody that their child was not awaiting a transplant. “The investigation is continuing to establish precisely the state of health of the little girl, further indicates Line Bonnet. But it does not correspond to that described by the association calling for donations. »
