they buy a house in Lyon, the former owner refuses to leave

Last June, a couple from Lyonnais bought a house at auction, for one million euros, in Pierre-Bénite. Problem: the former owner, who should have vacated the house in August, refuses to leave the premises,
according to France 3.

The new owners have since had to pay 4,000 euros a month to repay their loan, 800 euros for the rent of an apartment they occupy in the meantime, and the rental of a storage room.

The winter break is drawing near

The couple seized a bailiff, who sent the former owner a command to vacate the premises. The person had two months to comply, to no avail. The prefecture could decide on an eviction with the police, but only if there is a possibility of rehousing.

The situation is all the more likely to last as the winter break begins on November 1. Until March 31, this truce prohibits evictions, even for illegal occupation of housing. If the eviction authorization is not given before November 1, the couple will have no other recourse but to seek compensation from the state.
