These games blew fans away

Your task now is to stop the neglect and find a cure. During your search, you cross the path of various characters with whom you seal your fate together.

The best-selling game has won numerous awards and is crowned the best game of the year by many magazines. However, the game is currently only available digitally; a physical version has already been announced for 2024. But 2023 was also the year of Assassin’s Creed Mirage*, FC 24 (Fifa successor) and Cyberpunk 2077.

Sony had a surprise in store for us at the end of November: The PlayStation 5 Slim* came onto the market and replaces the previous model of the PS5. Above all, the Slim is slimmer, smaller and lighter than the original; essentially not much has changed. And that’s a good thing: Because the PlayStation 5 is still a performance colossus of a console. The new model has one terabyte more storage capacity for games etc. and can even be converted into a console with or without a drive as desired.

The clear favorite emerges at the end of the year Marvel’s Spider-Man 2* out on PlayStation 5. In tests, the game once again demonstrated its outstanding graphics and delighted gamers with a lively open world in which the story of Miles and Peter continues. The two have to prove their combined strength against the antagonists, both as spider-people and without masks.

Many gaming magazines name Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game of the year, even though it was only released on October 20, 2023. Other new titles like Diablo 4 couldn’t keep up, but still won over some gamers.

The Xbox has been in the shadow of Sony’s PlayStation since the beginning of its life. With the Xbox Series X* Microsoft has launched its most powerful games console on the market, which is visually even ahead of the very futuristic PS5. In tests like those from computerbild.de, it’s raining praise: great graphics, great performance and impressive backwards compatibility make it one of the best consoles of all time in 2023.

Fans are particularly impressed by some of the exclusive titles. With the Xbox Game Pass subscription, players also get access to countless blockbusters that can be incredibly fun.

The biggest hype in the Xbox fanbase this year was about the game Starfield* by Bethesda Game Studios. With the game, players immerse themselves in space on another planet. After a colonial war breaks out and peace finally reigns, space explorers set out to search for mystical relics surrounded by strange energy. The Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy and the remake of the horror classic Resident Evil 4 also enjoyed great success.

When it comes to cute games and games suitable for children that can be played with the whole family, they have it Nintendo Switch* still ahead. Game highlights in recent years have included Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and all Pokémon games. The advantage of the Nintendo Switch: It can even be used as a handheld console, reminiscent of retro game consoles like the Nintendo DS. This means you can even play the Switch on the go on the bus, train, in the park or with friends if you like.

Six years after the Zelda hit on the Switch, we meet the character Link again in the world of Hyrule. In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom* the protagonist now also discovers the lofty heights and delves into the depths of Hyrule. The story is the same as always: Link is looking for the missing princess and has to face some enemies along the way, learn skills and complete missions. Otherwise, the year 2023 was dedicated to new Mario games on the Switch – the colorful world of the superhero was expanded to include some top titles.

Whether action and role-playing games, simulation games or horror games, the year had everything a gamer’s heart could desire. No console was left out. We are already looking forward to 2024 and the new gaming highlights that await us.
