On February 16th, the preliminary decision will be made to select which musical talent will compete for Germany at the ESC. It is now known which star guests will be at the “German Final 2024”.

Berlin – The Eurovision Song Contest is getting closer and closer. Before a winner is chosen again in Malmö, Sweden on May 11, 2024, Germany must first choose this year’s talent for the competition. This will happen on Friday, February 16th (from 10:05 p.m.), at the highly anticipated show “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Final 2024”. Some star guests are excited on site.

The “I want to go to the ESC!” coaches Conchita Wurst (35) and Rea Garvey (50) have secured their place on the guest couch of presenter Barbara Schöneberger (49). In the two’s six-part documentary program, the 28-year-old singer Floryan and his song “Scars” were selected by the audience as one of the nine acts in the preliminary round.

It is now clear which stars will also be there live at the decision: former ESC participant Mary Roos (75), pop star Florian Silbereisen (42), singer Alli Neumann (29) and entertainer Riccardo Simonetti (30) will be in the preliminary decision be present in Berlin.

The remaining eight candidates, alongside talent show winner Floryan, were determined in the traditional way: NDR’s ESC editorial team chose, among others, Max Mutzke (42), the showmaster Stefan Raab (57) from almost 700 applications on his show exactly 20 years ago “TV total” discovered. He performs his song “Forever Strong”. Marie Reim (23), the daughter of a successful musician couple, is also taking part: the child of pop star Michelle (51) and “Damn, I love you” singer Matthias Reim (66) would like to take part the song “Naiv”.

The other acts are the band GALANT (“Katze”), singer-songwriter Isaak (27, “Always on the run”), the singers Leona (20, “Undream You”) and Bodine Monet (23, “Tears like rain”), as well as the singers NinetyNine (24, “Love on a Budget”) and Ryk (33, “Oh Boy”). As with the actual ESC final, the German representative will be determined in two votes on February 16th. Half of the points come from an international jury from Spain, Lithuania, Switzerland, Austria, Great Britain, Sweden, Croatia and Iceland. The other half is awarded by the TV audience via televoting.

If two acts end up with the same number of points, the viewers’ televoting will decide. Good news for our potential ESC star: He or she does not have to qualify through one of the two semi-finals on May 7th and 9th – as a member of the “Big Five”, Germany is automatically in the final on May 11th included.
