A parking ticket machine on Theresienstrasse fell victim to a pyrotechnic attack before New Year’s Eve. On Wednesday around 7:45 p.m., a passer-by reported to the police emergency number that two young men were tampering with the machine. Several patrols immediately drove to the crime scene – but they only found the machine there, completely destroyed.
Apparently the perpetrators had placed a firecracker in the delivery shaft and ignited it there. They were probably only interested in destruction; there were no attempts to get to the cash inside. The damage has not yet been precisely quantified, but is likely to be well into the four-digit range.
