“There are fewer charlots in reality TV than in politics”, judges Frédéric Ferrer, candidate and ex of “Beijing Express”

Frédéric Ferrer, candidate for departmental and triple participant of Beijing Express – Alexandre Vella / 20 Minutes

  • Frédéric Ferrer has participated three times, in 2010, 2012 and 2014, in Beijing Express.
  • “Perseverance, the ambition to get things done and meet all challenges” as well as “the taste for meeting people” led him to present himself to the departmental.
  • The program of his list is however more vague: “If people line up behind us, we will go as far as possible”, he hopes, while wishing “that [sa] city [de Marseille] go well ”.

Frédéric Ferrer has participated three times, in 2010, 2012 and 2014, in Beijing Express. He is now a candidate in the departmental elections in the canton of Marseille, straddling the 6th, 7th and 8th arrondissements. The name of his list, led by Julien Ayoun, is 13 independent, a microformation present only in this canton which has the slogan “down the masks!” “.

What can your Beijing Express experiences in politics bring you?

Perseverance, the ambition to get things done and meet all challenges. The taste for meeting people, too. I do not see any obvious parallel between Beijing Express and my commitment, apart from my adventurous side. Marseille is a great adventure.

Why this commitment?

I have been from Marseilles for 52 years and I see my city becoming poorer, certain associations which do not advance the city and politicians who are seen shaking hands every five years. I can’t imagine that we can’t do something.

You talk a lot about the city, but this is a departmental election …

We will try to get as many votes as possible to carry our values. If people line up behind us, we’ll go as far as possible.

How do you campaign?

I worked 33 years in the nightlife. I know a lot of people. My name is lying around, people are calling me. We do mailing and activity on social networks as well. The announcement of my candidacy made 400 likes, that of Yves Moraine (LR), a hundred. After that, that does not necessarily mean that people live in this canton and are going to vote.

The slogan of 13 independents is “down the masks”, what do you mean by that?

Yes, we also put forward the hypothesis “neither system, nor extreme” …

Julien Ayoun and Catherine Merveilleux, your running mate, have been candidates in the past, respectively with Jean-Louis Borloo and Bernard Tapie…

I live with the present and towards the future. Maybe this was a test shot for them. You should have asked me twenty years ago … I no longer believe in parties, they are only embezzlement and fraud. I want my city to be okay. Too many Marseillais left for Velaux, Allauch, Plan-de-Cuques.

What is more difficult: politics or reality TV?

I didn’t do a reality show, I did a TV adventure where the best wins, there is no public vote. The only parallel is that if I commit, I want to go to the end. TV is personal satisfaction; politics is something else. I don’t know what I’ll get out of it.

Do you think politics comparable to reality TV?

I think there are fewer charlots in reality TV than in politics. However, when you see the level of reality TV, it is already not famous.
