There are also Oktoberfest festivals in Saarland – and Corona peak values - Munich

And what about Saarland? Was there also an Oktoberfest? Pointing the finger and asking a question is one of the easiest exercises for those who find everything not so bad on social media. If sooo many Wiesn visitors supposedly didn’t just let themselves be infected by the atmosphere in the marquee and brought more than a raging frenzy home with them: why is the corona incidence in Saarland foaming over that in Munich?

It’s not that often that anyone outdoes the great Bavarian state capital – let alone that it is left behind in anything by the southwesternmost tip of the republic. But it’s true: Merzig-Wadern has been at the top of all districts nationwide for days, on Thursday with an incidence of 2138. The neighboring St. Wendel – although everything in Saarland is neighboring – follows with 2062. Saarpfalz, Saarlouis, Neunkirchen – all corona-wise in the Champions League, i.e. where FC Bayern usually runs unchallenged.

Was there a Wiesn there now, or what? Counter question: one Meadows? More than a dozen!

Merchweiler, Großrosseln, St. Ingbert and of course the Corona champion Merzig: Oktoberfest in 17 towns is listed by a Saarland online portal. About 3,000 people came to the marquee at the “Lebacher Wiesn” on a Saturday in September, the noted Saarbruecker newspaper. “Most of the guests also wore dirndls and lederhosen to go with the evening.” Or at least what is believed to be the case in the Saar. The photos of the festival show full huts, chicken with fries, decent beer mugs, but hardly any larger barrels for show tapping with plastic taps. “You didn’t have to look far to find a good mood among the guests that evening.” Masks and distance, on the other hand, do – just like the big role model.

For whatever reason, the Oktoberfest virus has hit the Saarlanders hard: In Merzig, fun is on the rise for the 66th time, of course also in 2020 (only outdoors with a beer garden) and 2021 (with 3G and double-digit incidences). The guests put a lot of money on the table for some Oktoberfests – sometimes the marquee also mutates into a Ballermann party with scene greats like Ikke Hipgold. In St. Ingbert, a mass still costs 12.90 euros.

So the Oktoberfest could be contagious in every way. And now everyone: The incidences are high!
