Johanna Blond, the daughter of Véronique and Laurent Blond, who disappeared in Madeira in March, decided to reopen their bakery this Monday in Beaumont-de-Lomagne, in Tarn-et-Garonne.
“L’Épi blond” will reopen. Located in the town of Beaumont-de-Lomagne (Tarn-et-Garonne), the bakery belonging for seven years to the French couple who disappeared on the Portuguese island of Madeira on March 16 will once again serve its customers from Monday April 15, reports La Dépêche du Midi.
This was announced by Johanna, the youngest daughter of Véronique and Laurent Blond, aged 56 and 58 respectively, on the business’s Facebook page.
“This is very good news. With the reopening of this bakery, life will return to normal in Beaumont,” said Jean-Luc Deprince, the mayor of this village of nearly 4,000 inhabitants.
Initially, the fifty-year-old couple was supposed to return to work on Monday March 24, after fifteen days of traveling and hiking.
The investigation continues
Present with them in Portugal, Johanna Blond was worried when her parents no longer gave any sign of life on the afternoon of March 16 in São Vicente.
On April 4, a walker finally found the lifeless body of a woman in a steep path, before a man, also dead, was discovered ten meters further down the next day. The accident trail is favored.
If these bodies have not been formally recognized as those of Véronique and Laurent Blond by the local authorities, everything seems to indicate that it is indeed them. Their daughters are also convinced of this, even if they are not kept informed of the results of the investigation.
“We don’t know when we will be able to recover and repatriate the bodies of our parents. Somehow, even if we would have liked it to be in other circumstances, we are happy to know that we will find them and be able to begin our mourning,” declared Pauline Blond to the local newspaper.
The family has not yet decided where the bodies of the two deceased will be buried.
A legal representative requested
If she is resting near Toulouse, Johanna wishes to “come to Beaumont to represent the family, support the employees and thank all those who have given us their support”, as announced to La Dépêche du Midi.
With her sister, she also called on a legal representative to help “keep this bakery alive”.
“It was their business, their own baby. We decided to call on a legal representative so that he could take into account the management of suppliers, employees and bank accounts,” explains Johanna.
She now hopes that customers will be there to “honor the memory” of her parents and knows that she will be able to count on the employees.
