Theft of millions: the accused confesses – three years in prison – SWR Aktuell

She is said to have stolen more than one million euros in Stuttgart and then fled abroad. The woman later turned herself in to the police – now she has to go to jail.

A former employee of a money transport company was sentenced to three years in prison by the Stuttgart district court on Monday. The SWR learned that from the courtroom. In October 2022, the 42-year-old stole 1.25 million euros from the premises of her Stuttgart employer and fled abroad with the money.

The three years correspond to the demand of the prosecution. The verdict is final and both sides have decided not to appeal. The 42-year-old had “essentially admitted” the allegations of the prosecution, as the public prosecutor’s office in Stuttgart previously told SWR.

Accused: Money was intended for life with the partner

As a reason for the act, the woman stated in court that she and her partner had planned a future together in former Yugoslavia. Without the partnership with the younger man, she would not have done it, said the 42-year-old.

The woman admitted stuffing a gym bag with wads of cash and getting into the car with her boyfriend. In court, she said that she had already realized at that point that she had “screwed up” her life in Germany. She fled abroad and is said to have stayed in Serbia at times.

woman turned herself in to the police

The investigators searched for her by means of a public search, also internationally. The fact that the accused and her boyfriend posted photos and videos from their new life of luxury on social media also caused a stir. At the end of January, after around two months, the 42-year-old finally turned himself in to the police. She was arrested at Stuttgart Airport.
