British theater director Peter Brook is dead. As the French news agency AFP wrote on Sunday, citing Brooks’ private environment, he died in Paris on Saturday at the age of 97. The director, actor and author was considered one of the most important representatives of contemporary European theatre. He was a magician of the theater, largely forgoing stage decorations and optical effects in his productions and placing physical expression in the foreground. Brook was born on March 21, 1925 in London. He has lived in Paris since the 1970s.
