The young driver who seriously injured a gendarme was imprisoned

He is currently sleeping in prison. The young driver without a license who hit a gendarme on Wednesday evening in Pugnac, Gironde, seriously injuring him, was placed in pre-trial detention. Indicted on Saturday for “attempted homicide on a person holding public authority”, he indeed asked for time to prepare his defense for a hearing before a judge of freedoms and detention, fixed at Wednesday.

This 21-year-old motorist had fled Wednesday evening after his refusal to comply. However, he surrendered to the police the next morning. Friday, the public prosecutor of Bordeaux Frédérique Porterie had indicated that he had admitted having hit a gendarme who told him to stop for a roadside check but denied “any homicidal intention”. The magistrate also specified that he “did not have a driving license”, “was not insured for this vehicle” and “had consumed cannabis on the day of the events”. The suspect had also already been sentenced last year for driving without a license;

“Throwed 15 meters”, the soldier suffered “serious injuries” which “could lead, in the opinion of the doctors, to very serious sequelae”.
