A letter from Jan Marsalek’s lawyer causes a stir and raises an old question: Where is the former Wirecard manager? Since his escape three years ago, there have been wild theories, amusing tipsters – and an explosive photo.
The letter, which the Munich public prosecutor received on June 29, 2020, is less than ten lines long. It was addressed to the chief public prosecutor and the responsible public prosecutor, it was written by Frank Eckstein, the lawyer who has defended Jan Marsalek to this day. At the time, Eckstein wrote in a few short sentences that his client would unfortunately not be able to attend the hearing they had scheduled in Munich. And by the way: Jan Marsalek will also not be available for further interrogation dates in the future.
