The celebrated dart comedy “The Wasp” is entering its third round. Now Florian Lukas is confronted with his family past.

Eddie “The Wasp” Frotzke is back. Starts on December 2nd, 2023 Sky the third season of the comedy series about the mustachioed darts underdog. The first two rounds were received positively by critics for their idiosyncratic humor and at the same time credible portrayal of the grubby corners of Berlin.

“The Wasp”: The story of season three

In the third season, Eddie’s family past catches up with him. His older brother Ecki shows up. The siblings are united by their passion for darts, but otherwise they have a warm dislike for each other. Unlike Eddie, who at least has a successful past, Ecki never achieved anything at the disc. Now he’s trying to frame his younger brother. On the way to a tournament, he sabotages Eddie’s meal and has his car towed.

But the surprise appearance of his brother is not the only shock for Eddie in season three. 14-year-old Maxie claims to be his daughter. The emo teenager forces her pretend father to train her and drive her to a competition 700 kilometers away.

Of course, Eddie’s wife Manu doesn’t like that at all. She throws the presumably unfaithful arrow thrower out of their shared apartment. He is only allowed to return once he has clarified whether he is really Maxie’s father or not. Manu also celebrates further sporting successes. “The Rattlesnake” is competing at the Dart Champions League in London.

New colleagues for Florian Lukas and Lisa Wagner

In season 3, Florian Lukas (50) again embodies the likeable, chubby title hero. At his side, Lisa Wagner (44, “Commissioner Heller”) once again plays his wife Manu, alias “The Rattlesnake”. For the first season, Lisa Wagner won the German Acting Prize in the “comedic role” category.

In the first two seasons, the series was able to attract top-class actors for supporting roles, for example Ulrich Noethen (64), Meret Becker (54) and Peter Lohmeyer (61). The new group also has a prominent new addition to play the leading role of Ecki Frotzke, who also has a lot of comedic experience: Matthias Mattschke (55) was not only a commissioner in Magdeburg’s “Polizeiruf 110”, but was also part of the ensemble of the comedy series “Sketch History”.

Eddie’s presumed daughter Maxie plays a relatively unknown role with Sophie Paasch. The young actress, born in 2006, can only boast small parts in series such as “Last Trace Berlin” or “The Law Office”. Also in season three are Oscar Ortega Sánchez (61), Bernd Tauber (73) and Milena Dreißig (30), who are known as the girlfriend of office disgust “Stromberg”.

New director, proven writer for the new season

There’s also a mix of continuity and new blood behind the scenes in season three. As with the first two rounds, the scripts were written by series creator Jan Berger (53).

This time, all episodes are directed by Gregor Schnitzler (59), who made the films “The Cloud” and “The School of Magical Animals,” among others. The first season was directed by Hermine Hunt Birth (66, “Lindenberg! Do Your Thing”), the second season by Tobi Baumann (49, “The WiXXer”).

Season 3 of “The Wasp” starts on December 2nd at 8:15 p.m. on Sky One. The six new episodes, each 25 minutes long, will run in double episodes on Sundays. All six episodes will be available to watch on Sky Q and the in-house streaming service Wow from December 2nd.
