The Valencia prosecutor’s office opens an investigation, the Spanish Federation recognizes “a problem”

The reactions are multiplying, this Monday, the day after the racist insults (again) suffered by Vinicius during a La Liga match. In Valencia (1-0), the Brazilian striker of Real Madrid was called a “monkey” several times by spectators at the Mestalla stadium. The Valencian club wants first of all to be very firm about its supporters who chanted the term “mono” on Sunday, if we are to believe a press release published on Monday: “Valencia CF has already opened a disciplinary procedure and it will apply the most great severity against the supporters involved, expelling them from the stadium for life”.

Valencia informs that the police have so far identified one of the spectators who “made racist gestures towards Vinicius”. The Valencian public prosecutor’s office also indicated that it had opened an investigation on Monday for an alleged “hate crime” after these racist insults in Mestalla, we learned on Monday from judicial sources.

“A serious problem”

Likewise, the President of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubialesthis Monday, held a press conference very different from the first reaction of La Liga boss Javier Tebas, who had only loaded statements from Vinicius on Sunday evening.

“We must recognize that we have a serious problem in our country of behavior, education, racism, confided Luis Rubiales. Even if it is just one person or a group of people, it affects all of Spanish football. Vinicius is more right than you think. This time, apart from Javier Tebas, Spain seems determined to tackle its “serious problem” of racism.
