The “Unterbiberger Hofmusik” with Sebastian Beck and a Christmas program – Munich

In 1992, the trumpeter Franz Josef Himpsl and his wife Irene – an accordionist and, like him, a music teacher – developed an amazing project from home music with their young children: The Unterbiberg court music became a pioneering act that, together with musician friends such as Bobby Shew, Jay Ashby and, above all, Claudio Roditi, implemented Brazilian and jazz elements, and later also Turkish and Arabic influences, into traditional Bavarian folk music.

Local greats such as Kathrin Pechlof, Mathias Götz, Michael Engl and Florian Mayerhofer helped promote professionalism. But above all, the boys Xaver, Ludwig and Franz jr. studied professional musician with his own projects like Bavaschoro or World.Wide.Wig became.

The new Christmas program “Zeitenspiel” takes you on a multi-stylistic journey through the eras from Bach to Bruckner, from old Bavarian music to jazz. The premiere is on December 1st in the now traditional location Luise Cultural Center. The day before, they were the ideal musical part when SZ editor Sebastian Beck presented his novel “Vinz solo” about a troubled (musician) youth in the Bavarian countryside in the 1980s.
