“The unions have won the battle of public opinion”, according to Renaud Muselier

A heavy statement from the president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, a recent member of the presidential majority. “Today, the unions have won the battle for public opinion because they have shown a certain responsibility, in relation to Parliament,” declared Renaud Muselier on Public Senate. And for good reason, “from the moment you ask a question to the one who is for pension reform, he is absolutely incapable of explaining to you why, how and what is in it”, added the president of Paca.

The former Republican targets in particular the heated debates of the National Assembly, which were “below everything” and “in particular the Nupes”, especially since for him “the only thing that matters in public opinion public is 64 years old, and we’ve never been there”.

“We had to extend a little, but in a different way no doubt”

Bouncing back from Emmanuel Macron’s remarks on Tuesday at dawn at Rungis, Renaud Muselier felt “that common sense is that we live longer and better”, so “we cannot be the only ones in Europe to 62 years old, while everyone is 65 years old and some countries like the United States 71 years old”.

“We had to extend a little, but probably differently,” he concluded.

Tuesday morning, the President of the Republic had relied on the “common sense” of the French and had reiterated that “we must work a little longer”, defending the postponement of the starting age from 62 to 64, in the name of defending a system which is a “treasure” and constitutes “the heritage of those who have none”.
