When is a war a war? For many when there are corresponding images. That’s paradoxical, because what’s horrifying about war is reality, not the photo that depicts it. And yet one can say without cynicism: It is not the type of fighting that is decisive for how a war is perceived by those involved and in the world – but the recordings that exist of it.
