Three days after their disappearance, the two macaws were finally found on Wednesday afternoon, the Tropical Parc teams said in a press release. The first was perched in a large oak tree in private homes in Béganne, a town not far from Saint-Jacut-les-Pins. Following the trainer’s instructions, the latter attracted the animal with a bowl and discussed with it before the owner of the animal park arrived to recover the bird.
Birds tired and hungry but not injured
A few tens of minutes later, the second parrot was located in a field in the town of Augan, about 40 kilometers from the park. To make the animal wait, which was on the ground, “too exhausted to fly”, the owners used a dog bowl with which the parrot played.
“They are tired, it shows in their feathers, but not injured, says Erven Gicquel, director of the park. However, they are very hungry. Because, in spring, there are no fruits to eat, only buds and lichens. My two athletes could have survived four or five days but no more. »
