Five Nice supporters who invaded the pitch during the Ligue 1 match between Nice and Marseille at the end of August and who were to appear on Monday will finally be judged in February. The meeting between OGC Nice and OM on August 22, interrupted after the field was invaded by supporters, had been marked by many incidents. A Nice supporter, author of a kick in the direction of the OM playmaker, Dimitri Payet, has already been tried on September 22 and sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence and five years of stadium ban. Another man, accused of having made a Nazi salute during the same match and placed in pre-trial detention, will be tried Wednesday for “apologia for crimes against humanity”.
At the time of these serious incidents, Nice was leading 1 to 0. The match will be replayed on October 27 on neutral ground in Troyes and a point has already been withdrawn from OGC Nice.
