The investigation is moving forward after the discovery on Saturday of a human body on fire near a green waste storage area in Auray (Morbihan). The trail of suicide by immolation is now favored in this case. “If no track can, at this stage, be ruled out, the elements gathered so far and in particular also those of the forensic autopsy carried out on the requisitions of the Lorient public prosecutor’s office, seem in the state and more particularly, to direct towards a suicide by immolation”, indicated Stéphane Kellenberger, prosecutor of the Republic of Lorient.
The alert was given on Saturday by walkers who had noticed the start of a fire in a green waste storage area. Firefighters found that the fire came from a human corpse. The investigation into the causes of death was entrusted to the gendarmerie research brigade of Lorient, in co-referral with the research section of Rennes.
