The track of the privileged accidental fall after the death of a British rugby player

The circumstances are becoming clearer after the death on Tuesday of a player from the United Kingdom military rugby team in Dinard (Ille-et-Vilaine). Around 10:40 a.m., the victim’s lifeless body was discovered by a walker in the rocks at a place called La Vicomté, between Port-Nican beach and Moines beach.

The autopsy performed on Wednesday established that the death “resulted from a plurality of fractures, compatible with a fall of several meters”, indicated Fabrice Tremel, public prosecutor of Saint-Malo, specifying that “no no sign of drowning had been detected. On the walkway overlooking the place of discovery of the body, the police also discovered the existence of recent traces of a fall.

The victim was very drunk

The hearing of several witnesses and the viewing of CCTV images also revealed that the victim, who was staying with his team in Dinard, had been in a very alcoholic state the night before. “In the current state of investigations, the preferred hypothesis is that of an accidental fall”, concludes in his press release Fabrice Tremel.

The United Kingdom team will play its semi-final against Fiji in Rennes on Sunday as part of the World Military Rugby Championship which is currently being held in several Breton towns.
