The town hall bans foie gras for its official events

There will be no foie gras at Christmas at Lyon town hall, nor after. The ecological municipality has decided to ban this specialty, festive but controversial, from all its receptions and official events, reveals Lyon Mag. Asked about its decision, the town hall explained that foie gras was “the product of breeding going completely against animal welfare”.

In this sense, the green municipalities of Strasbourg and Grenoble, as well as Villeurbanne (PS) had already taken the decision to ban foie gras from their buffets. But the team of Grégory Doucet wants to go further by proposing a dialogue with the Lyon restaurateurs “to limit the service of foie gras as much as possible, or even stop it”, according to Lyon Mag. Not sure that the holiday season is conducive to such a decision on the part of restaurateurs.
