The irreversible tipping point could be reached for the Arctic – NOVAYA ZEMLYA
The tipping point towards irreversible global warming may have already been crossed, with cascading consequences for the planet, the German head of the largest scientific expedition ever led to the North Pole warned on Tuesday.
“Only the assessment of the next few years will determine whether we can still save the Arctic sea ice present all year round through coherent climate protection, or whether we have already crossed this important tipping point of the climate system”, underlined Markus Rex in Berlin, eight months after returning from the one-year international mission in the Arctic.
