The third training session in Monza is now live!

1:51 p.m

FT1: final phase

The last few minutes are ticking and as expected things are getting fast now. Verstappen reduced the best time to 1:21.252. This is the fastest time of the weekend so far. Leclerc on P2 is missing a good three tenths.

Behind them are Perez, Sainz and Alonso as “Best of the Rest”. Let’s see if there’s anything else coming from Mercedes. Russell and Hamilton are currently only on P7 and P9. And now Schumacher is finally driving out!

FT3: Traffic

And Bottas got it again. But he’s not the only driver having traffic problems. That shouldn’t necessarily get any better in qualifying afterwards – especially in FT1 when all 20 drivers are on the track.

That being said, FT3 continues to be manageable. The Verstappen best time is still valid and there are currently only two cars on the track. Still no sign of Schumacher. It’s about to go into the last 20 minutes.

FT3: Halftime

The first half of the session is already over – and unfortunately there is still no sign of Schumacher. Verstappen is still ahead with his 1:21.8. Rookie de Vries is slowly approaching. Don’t expect miracles from him.

In any case, he gives everything, because in the first Lesmo corner he was already off the track in the gravel…

FT3: Trouble for Sainz?

That was close! Bottas almost crashed into Sainz before turn 1, who was very slowly on the ideal line. That could cause trouble because it was a potentially dangerous situation. An investigation is ongoing.

Verstappen is currently at the top with a 1:21.872. That was faster yesterday, when Sainz drove a 1:21.664. But Verstappen was only on the medium, which of course puts the time into perspective.

FT3: Little going on

We know that from a third training session: Not much is going on at the beginning, so far there have only been nine drivers on the track. That will of course change. The fastest times should only be at the very end.

Incidentally, the Mercedes drivers will be driving today and tomorrow with black start numbers on their cars. The background is the death of the Queen two days ago.

More engine penalties

Alpine has just confirmed that Ocon will also get a new motor. Makes five penalties for him in the starting line-up. The current list looks like this:

Max Verstappen (+5)
Esteban Ocon (+5)
Sergio Perez (+10)
Valtteri Bottas (+15)
Carlos Sainz (end of grid)
Lewis Hamilton (end of grid)
Yuki Tsunoda (end of grid)

In addition, there will be Schumacher’s gearbox penalty, and Magnussen is now expected to change the engine. We stay tuned!

FT3: Open the session ticker now!

FT3 will start in five minutes. Here at this point you will find the most important information, pictures and voices. You can get the complete coverage in our session ticker with Stefan Ehlen. It’s best to just let both tickers run in parallel.

Quickly the conditions: It is – as already announced – dry, the official probability of rain is 0 percent. The asphalt is currently around 40 degrees warm, the air temperature is a good 25 degrees. So very similar to yesterday.

Albon takes it with humor

He misses the Grand Prix, but Albon takes it with humor on social media. In addition to the missed race, the “pain” is of course also negative, he writes on Twitter.

The positive aspects are “cool scars” and “weight reduction for Singapore”. Let’s see if a missing appendix really makes such a difference in performance 😉
